Our first journey

We had tried to purchase a rig in several different locations around the country but nothing panned out. Originally we were hung up on getting a used diesel pusher but soon figured out that to acquire one within our budget, we would have to get a motorhome that was much older. After seeing several that were very tired we switched gears and started looking for a gas model.

We then stumbled across the perfect rig with the perfect floor plan. A one year old 2019 Tiffin Open Road 36LA. We first heard about the model from a couple on YouTube (RV Diem). We were most thrilled with the fact that we could get a really late model rig with only 6700 miles on it.

Destiny

So, we flew out to Michigan and picked her up. The problem was, we had never driven anything like this before. We left the dealership in Wixom, MI at around 5pm and with no real plan we headed out towards New Hampshire.

Our first trip to pickup the rig in Wixom Michigan

Our first journey took 2 and a half days from Michigan through Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and back to New Hampshire. It was a great learning experience! We learned that driving the rig was not as hard as we thought and also I learned that Susan is a great navigator and co-pilot!
